I have him trained SO well

So when I was pregnant with Bean I always knew that I would teach him how to do certain things.

For instance, when he got undressed for the evening or dressed for the day I would show him that we DO NOT throw our clothes on the floor in a heap like Daddy. That we put them in the HAMPER! Amazing concept really.

Same thing with dishes, toys, etc.

Now Bud on the other hand. I have been trying for YEARS to train him. YEARS.

Yes everyday is the same. He comes home, dumps out his pocket of crap on the dresser or kitchen counter. The "crap" consists of change, gum wrappers, receipts and so forth.

Then he proceeds to undress as he walks into the bedroom. Shoes, socks, shirt and pants. Then he changes into shorts or whatever.
Later if he eats food I can bet the dish will be in the sink waiting for me.

Why is that?

At least I know that one day when my Bean gets married that hopefully his wife will appreciate the fact that I taught him how to do simple tasks that drive many women mad.

How about you? Does your hubby create chaos?

Mine too. Crap all over the kitchen counter. Clothes on the floor. Toilet paper roll sitting on top of the empty one on the dispenser. But on the other hand I never have to mow the lawn, fix anything that breaks, work, etc. It drives me crazy but it all evens out in the end I guess.

I say all the time that I'm going to tell my kids that just cause dad does it doesn't make it ok... I didn't raise your father!

Ugh - my husband (who isn't here right now as you know and is currently in Iraq) creates a "nest" when he IS here. He has this shiteous blanket that I call "the homeless blanket" because it looks like something a homeless person would live in. Or, more accurately, several homeless people would live in it. So he comes in, removes his shoes right by the door (so I can trip all over them) and then makes his nest!

While I definitely miss him, I definitely DO NOT miss the nest!!!

I wish my hubbie would make a mess! he's an Engineer and drives me INSANE about picking up this or that!
Way over the top!! Even my Bean says 'mama the house is messy'.
Arrrrrgggggg!!

You described my husband perfectly. You are doing right by teaching your son early - his future wife will thank you.

Take care - Kellan

Here's what I think: every mother has said the same thing. Every man ignores what's been taught to him. It's the Y chromosome (well, minus the Y chromosome that also includes a neat freak gene--but I didn't get a husband with one of those). I'm going to try my hardest to teach cleanliness and tidiness to my son (and daughter), but realize that when he gets older, if he consciously chooses to be a slob, he will be.

Is Bud really named Mike and does he really live in Canada because if so we may be married to the same man!
And I agree Chicken will be a much better cleaner, I hope!
ps. That shit on the kitchen counter. I started packing it all into a plastic bag and sending it down to his office. It forces him to deal with it then.

I think your future DIL will appreciate that. Unless Bean morphs into something other. My MIL made my hubby do lots around the house. Amazing how the I dos changed all of that.

My husband does the same 'undress as he walks into the bedroom' too, I can't tell you how many times I have tripped over his shoes on my way to bed. drives me crazy!!!!

I have hampers all over the house...and yet the socks and underwear never seem to to there!

Hubs has a tendency to leave his shoes in places I will surely trip over them. Next time, I'm going to beat him with those same shoes.

My husband alwaysALWAYS! leaves his clothes in a heap in front of the bed. Drives me bonkers. Would put up more of a fight but he does the dishes and laundry so I suppose he gets a little leeway. But it really is annoying.

While I'll admit to the piles of unaddressed paper, at least my dirty clothes get in the hamper. Not 3 feet from it. Grrrr...

But I'm also training Gavin (and eventually Cooper) about putting his clothes in the hamper. Hopefully their father's bad habits don't override my brainwashing. :)
